Words in Bloom: A Beginner's Block Lettering Workshop

Learn the basics of block lettering and leave with your own unique design Discover the fundamentals of block lettering in this beginner-friendly workshop focused on creating a meaningful typographic composition. Participants will learn the building blocks of hand lettering by designing a single word of their choice using simple block-letter techniques. Through guided exercises, they will explore letter construction, spacing, hierarchy, and composition before creating a finished black-and-white artwork that reflects their own personality and story. Whether the chosen word is joy, hope, family, grow, or a word in another language, each participant will leave with a unique piece created entirely by hand. No previous experience is required, and all materials are provided. Recommended for ages 12+. Children under 12 must attend with an adult, and both the child and accompanying adult require a ticket. Hosted by Andrea Cataro Andrea CataRo (she/her) is a Toronto-based creative designer and mural artist whose work blends vibrant colour, bold lettering, and cultural storytelling. Drawing from her Colombian-Canadian roots and the natural world, she creates joyful art experiences that invite connection and celebrate community.
