Full description from organizer

A soulful day on Bowen Island to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect through yoga, breathwork, meditation, sound healing, and journalli A Day of Rest, Renewal & Reconnection An invitation to slow down, soften, and rediscover the beauty of simply being. We live in a world that rarely encourages us to slow down. Our days are filled with responsibilities, expectations, endless notifications, and the quiet pressure to always be doing something. Somewhere along the way, rest can become something we postpone, something we feel we need to earn, rather than something we allow ourselves to experience. The Art of Rest is an invitation to do things differently. Set against the peaceful natural surroundings of Bowen Island, this thoughtfully curated day retreat offers an opportunity to step away from the pace of everyday life and return to yourself. To leave the noise behind, take a breath, and create space for the things we often overlook: stillness, presence, connection, and genuine restoration. This is more than a day of wellness practices. It is an experience designed to remind you what it feels like to have nowhere else to be and nothing else to do. THE EXPERIENCE We'll begin by arriving, settling in, and allowing ourselves to transition out of the busyness of everyday life. There is no rush and nothing to catch up on. Just the opportunity to arrive as you are, connect with the surroundings, and give yourself permission to slow down. Moving with Intention | Gentle Yoga Our journey begins with a grounding and nourishing yoga practice led by Hadis. Through mindful movement, gentle stretching, breath awareness, and moments of stillness, we'll begin to release the physical tension we carry and reconnect with the wisdom of the body. Rather than focusing on how much we can do, we'll explore what it means to move with less effort, more awareness, and greater compassion for ourselves. A practice that invites you to listen rather than push, soften rather than strive. The Space Between | Breathwork & Meditation From movement, we'll gradually turn inward. Through guided breathwork and meditation, we'll explore the simple yet powerful practice of being present. The breath becomes an anchor, offering an opportunity to quiet the mental chatter, settle into the body, and create a little more space between ourselves and the demands of everyday life. There is nothing to force or achieve. Simply an invitation to breathe, observe, and be. A Moment Within | Journalling & Reflection Rest also means giving ourselves the time and space to listen.Through guided journalling and thoughtful reflection, we'll explore what rest means to us individually. What are we holding onto? What are we ready to release? What might it look like to create more room for ourselves in our everyday lives? A chance to put thoughts onto paper, reconnect with your inner voice, and perhaps discover something you haven't given yourself the time to hear. The Art of Receiving | Live Sound Journey with Shawna As the day gently unfolds, we'll move into an immersive live sound experience with Shawna. Using the resonant tones of the gong, singing bowls, and an array of beautiful instruments, Shawna will create a rich, layered soundscape that invites you to settle into stillness and surrender to the experience. With your body supported and your eyes gently closed, allow the sounds and vibrations to surround you. There is nowhere to go and nothing to figure out. No need to participate, perform, or even think. Just lie back, listen, and receive. This is your time to let go of the doing and embrace the beauty of being. BEYOND THE PRACTICES Some of the most meaningful moments of a retreat happen in between the planned activities. There will be space to enjoy the natural beauty of Nectar, connect with others, share conversation, or find a quiet moment for yourself. Enjoy nourishing treats, take in the surroundings, and allow the day to unfold without feeling the need to fill every moment. Whether you arrive on your own or with someone you love, you'll be welcomed into a warm, inclusive space where you can show up exactly as you are. WHAT YOU'LL LEAVE WITH Our hope is that you leave feeling a little lighter, more grounded, and more connected to yourself. Not because you've accomplished something, but because you've given yourself the space to simply be. Perhaps you'll take home a new perspective on rest, a deeper connection to your breath, a moment of clarity, or simply the feeling of having been truly present. Because rest isn't a luxury. It is part of how we care for ourselves, reconnect with what matters, and make room for life itself. You don't need to do more. You don't need to become more. You simply need a moment to be. We look forward to welcoming you to Bowen Island for a day devoted to the art of rest.
