Full description from organizer

All of us must constantly navigate beginnings, middles, and endings. The question is how it feels to live in these passages, and what can aid us on our way. 5Rhythms movement meditation practice has good bones to lean into, in moment-by-moment dance and in day-to-day life. We're invested in creating well-held space that allows meaningful, instinctive movement to come fully alive, and to bridge helpfully into our lives. We'll support your connection with embodied intelligence about starts, follow throughs, and completions. We'll use touchstones of the practice to help you meet yourself where you're at, and offer trusty foundations to ground the group and kindle dance that heartens its dancers. There will be time and space to ease into being and moving with your own interests, need, and process. You don't need experience to join us. 5Rhythms is a movement mediation practice. It's a workout for body and soul with no steps to follow. In this improvisational movement method, we show up, tune in, and move with what's alive in us. Chantell teaches 5Rhythms & yoga in low-barrier spaces with the intention to support people's strength. A misfit exploring our human condition and kinship with our fellow beings and Earth, she prioritizes two dreams: personal awareness and artistry through movement, and relational realism and care. She sees communal practice as a road of potential truth and beauty, on which we can acknowledge our shared experiences, our differences, and our changing states. Joanne teaches 5Rhythms with a deep respect for the transformational nature of this practice, for the insight that these maps can bring to our daily lives, and for the unique discovery process of each participant. Her teaching is rooted in a lifelong engagement with her own study and personal work. Since 2001, she has held a steady space for the growth and evolution of a robust dance community in Victoria BC, has supported students and colleagues with their own teaching path, and has shared her love of this practice with communities in Canada, the US, and Europe.
