Encore: Holiday Watercolours - Paint, Frame & Enjoy

Bring a friend and spend a lovely Saturday evening painting holiday-themed watercolours at our wonderful Arts Centre by the sea! Newly added date due to popular demand! Since the Monday, November 2nd session sold out so quickly, we have booked a second date with the instructor so you don't miss out! This registration page is for enrolling in the Encore session on Saturday, November 14th, from 4pm to 6:30pm. Join us for a short, fun watercolour workshop creating loose, festive holiday paintings that can be framed or given as cards. Getting Started: Quick review of watercolour basics, washes, colour mixing and keeping the painting fresh. Holiday Inspiration: Paint simple seasonal subjects such as Christmas trees, ornaments, holly, snowmen and winter skies. Loose & Expressive: Learn to suggest detail with brushstrokes, splatters and negative space rather than overworking the painting. Create Your Own: Paint 2–3 finished holiday pieces, with time to add your own personal touches and greetings. No previous watercolour experience necessary — just come ready to play with paint and create something festive. SUPPLY FEE All the supplies you'll need while you're here will be provided by the instructor for an additional $10 fee, so you can simply relax, paint, and discover what you enjoy before investing in your own materials. ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR Art has been at the heart of Terri Rodstrom's life for decades. As a professional artist and former gallery owner for over 15 years, Terri has had the privilege of creating, exhibiting, selling, and talking about art with people from every level of experience. Those years taught her that while beautiful paintings are rewarding, helping someone discover their own creative ability is even more fulfilling. That passion is what she brings to her watercolour classes. Terri's teaching style is relaxed, encouraging, and centered on understanding rather than imitation. She guides students in learning how watercolour behaves—how water, pigment, light, and colour work together—while breaking each painting into simple, achievable steps. Rather than asking students to simply copy what they see, Terri helps them learn to truly observe, understand the medium, and build the confidence to paint on their own. Whether someone is picking up a paintbrush for the first time or returning to watercolour after many years, Terri's goal is for every student to leave feeling inspired, capable, and excited to continue their own creative journey. If a student walks away believing, “I can do this,” then she's done her job. CLASS LOCATION This workshop is hosted by the Arts & Culture Colwood Society at the Goldfinch Arts Centre, a bright & modern gallery space that looks out to the Esquimalt Lagoon and the Colwood Waterfront beyond, where you will be surrounded by beautiful artwork in a functional pottery exhibition called A Well Clayed Table, which runs from October 22nd through November 15th, 2026. Please visit our website for more details on this and other upcoming events: www.artsandculturecolwood.ca. Class size limit 14 people Ticket sales end on Friday, November 13th at 8pm
