Scene of the Game

An improv workshop where the best games are already in the scene with you! The best games are already in the scene with you. We’ve all been there: We're standing on the backwall trying our hardest to find or add to the game. You're worried about jumping onstage because you ‘don’t have anything.’ It’s a lot of work and, believe it or not, the best games and premises are already in the scene right there with you. Scene of the Game is a workshop about stopping the worry and building trust in yourself, your partner, and the show. We are going to merge the focus of finding a clean, playable comedic pattern with radical commitment to our scenework and each other. Instead of hunting for a gimmick, we are going to let the game find us. By leaning heavily into the scene’s foundations - who these people are, where they actually are, and why they matter to each other - the game becomes an organic byproduct of honest human relationships. This is a two-hour workshop with 10-minute break. Please bring a water bottle and clothing you feel comfortable moving in.
