Comedy Night Smitty's St. James

October 23, enjoy a night of stand-up comedy featuring Scott Porteous, Jeff Gobeil and Ainsley McPhail. Join us for another hilarious edition of comedy at Smitty’s St. James! On Friday, October 23, enjoy a night of stand-up comedy featuring Scott Porteous, Jeff Gobeil and Ainsley McPhail. Scott Porteous has spent the last year proving he’s Canada’s hardest-working comedian...because being the funniest sounds like way too much effort. He has produced successful shows and tours across the country, bringing laughter to audiences from coast to coast. You may have seen Scott on Canada’s Got Talent as his quirky alter ego, Herbert Henries (the self-proclaimed Comedy Dangerist) or even in Reader’s Digest, because apparently, his complaints are worth publishing. Jeff Gobeil is known for deeply personal storytelling inspired by his experiences with sobriety, mental health and life as a city Native. He blends vulnerability with laughter to create comedy that is both hilarious and disarmingly real. Jeff placed second in Rumor’s Funniest Person with a Day Job competition in 2025 and hosts the Sunday Comedy Open Mic at DMC. Outside of stand-up, he is a registered social worker serving Indigenous community members, as well as a journeyman carpenter and musician. Ainsley McPhail is a television host, stand-up comedian and travel content creator. Known for her energetic storytelling and candid observations, Ainsley brings plenty of personality...and probably a little too much information to the stage. Friday, October 23 Showtime: 8 pm Smitty’s St. James Tickets: $18 Come early, grab dinner or drinks and settle in for a great night of local comedy!
