Dinner & A Show: Down River Blues Halloween Night at The Getaway

Dinner and a show with Down River Blues, Texas-style blues on Halloween. Doors at 8:00 for dinner, show at 9:00 at The Getaway Cafe. Doors open at 8:00 for dinner and Down River Blues takes the stage at 9:00, so come out early on Halloween, grab a table, eat, and settle in before the band starts. The Getaway is the most intimate and best sounding venue in Winnipeg, every seat is close to the stage and we've put a lot of work into the room and the sound, so you're going to hear the guitar and the rhythm section the way the band is actually playing them. Dinner is from the Royal Getaway menu, and I'll just say it, it's really the best food you can get at an entertainment venue, the kind of food you'd come out for even if there wasn't a band playing. Food is ordered and paid for separately at the venue. Down River Blues brings their own take on Texas-style blues, a mix of blues standards, original tunes and plenty of surprises. The band is fronted by Wabaseemoong First Nation guitarist Isaac Mandamin, whose leads take a lot from Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert King and Colin James, and they move between uptempo numbers and heavy, soulful slow jams. Brennan Saul is on drums with years of international touring behind him, and Tommy Stucky brings decades of bluegrass, rock and local blues, so there's a really solid foundation under Isaac's playing and it's a straight-up good time from start to finish. Seating is limited and shows like this do sell out, so get your tickets in advance. Advance sales may close up to 4 hours before the show and tickets may not be available at the door.
