Berlin NewGen 2026: Competition Short Programme III — Heimat: THE GROUND WE STAND ON

Welcome to the third short film programme of the Berlin NewGen Film Festival 2026! ★ This screening is part of the NewGen Short Film Main Competition section. Audiences will have the opportunity to vote for the Audience Award following the screening. ★ Heimat: THE GROUND WE STAND ON (Run time: 94 mins) A seesaw shifts the view; a coastline recedes; a cinema awaits demolition; a flat passes between arrival and departure. Here, place is never merely a backdrop. Across changing landscapes and diasporic routes, these films ask how ground holds memory, makes certain lives possible, and changes beneath those who leave, return, remain, or look from elsewhere.
