What holds us in place. What we took with us when we left, and what we pulled up on purpose. Roots can be a village you haven't been back to in twenty years. A recipe nobody ever wrote down. The moment you realised you sound exactly like your mother. And sometimes it's something else entirely. A root canal that went very wrong. The night you dyed your roots in a hostel sink. Rooting for someone who needed it. Some stories that might get told: The grandmother whose kitchen was a whole country. The first winter in Berlin, and the stranger who made it bearable. Finding family in a DNA test you took as a joke. Going back to where you grew up and not recognising a single street. The accent you lost, and the day it came back. You don't need to take the theme literally. Your story just needs to be true, and yours. How it works: There's no lineup. Anyone can put their name in the draw on the night, and nobody knows who's up until they're called. You get around seven minutes. No script, no notes, no voting, no winners. Two halves, about ten stories, and a room that actually wants to hear them. Stories are in English. Not sure you have a story worth telling? That's not really the bar. Stories aren't here to inspire; they're here to connect. If one person in the room feels it, your story has lived. Plenty of people come alone, just to listen, and end up telling one.
