Full description from organizerShow less
The Erotic Review joins Chapters Berlin for the launch event of their 6th Issue: Thresholds Desire runs through so many of the stories on our shelves, across every era and every place, and literature has always been one of the most honest ways we have of writing about how we reach for one another. So we're thrilled to welcome the Erotic Review to celebrate the launch of their Autumn/Winter Issue 6, and to bring eroticism and storytelling into conversation with the artists and writers of Berlin today. This issue, "Thresholds", explores writing and reading at the edges, borderlands and extremities of desire and the body. Novelist Vijay Khurana will read from a brand new story about a Brooklyn and Berlin love affair, and publisher Lucy Roeber will join deputy editor Saskia Vogel on stage for an evening of desire, sex writing and the questions you bring with you. About Vijay Khurana: Vijay Khurana is a fiction writer and translator. His debut novel, The Passenger Seat (Biblioasis, 2025), won the 2026 McKitterick Prize, was runner-up in the 2026 Tournament of Books, and was shortlisted for the Christina Stead Prize for Fiction and the Fitzcarraldo Editions/New Directions/Giramondo Novel Prize. His translation of Senthuran Varatharajah's Red (Hunger) won a PEN Translates award and is forthcoming in 2027. He lives in Berlin. About Saskia Vogel: Saskia Vogel is the author of the novel Permission (2019) and co-creator and deputy editor of the new Erotic Review. Her work has appeared in Granta, The Paris Review and The New Yorker. An award-winning translator of more than two dozen Swedish books, she was a finalist for the 2024 National Book Award for her translation of Linnea Axelsson's novel-in-verse Ædnan. She lives in Berlin. About Lucy Roeber: Lucy Roeber is the founder, editor and publisher of the Erotic Review. She has recently curated events with the ICA, PornFilmFestival Berlin, Reference Point and the Groucho Club, and has written for the TLS, the Guardian and the Real Review. About the Erotic Review: Relaunched in spring 2024 as a biannual literary and art journal for a contemporary audience, the Erotic Review was founded by Lucy Roeber with award-winning designers Studio Frith and deputy editor Saskia Vogel. It is a serious cultural platform exploring desire through essays, stories, poetry and art.
