Galerie SLP is pleased to present LIVING, a duo exhibition bringing together French-Martiniquais painter Thomas Delarozière and German abstract painter Marika Thoms. Running from 22 October to 21 November 2026, the exhibition explores two symbiotic strategies for human vitality: the quiet sanctuary of rooted ecological memory and kinetic abstract expression as psychological resilience. For Thomas Delarozière, living is deeply ancestral and inextricably bound to the soil. Drawing on the tropical topographies of Martinique and the architecture of the Jardin Créole, his oil paintings capture memory, heritage, and organic sanctuary. His dense, atmospheric compositions treat plant life not merely as landscape, but as an active, living repository of history and emotional refuge. In kinetic contrast, Marika Thoms approaches existence as a vital sign—an explosive insistence on existing in the present tense. Working with raw poured pigments (Schüttbilder), visceral charcoal marks, and signature neon accents across unprimed cotton, her vibrant abstraction operates as a radical, deliberate act of transmutation. Thoms uses color and painterly momentum as a force field, manufacturing bright light out of internal shadow. Brought together inside Galerie SLP at Bikini Berlin, these distinct practices form a complete, breathing ecosystem. Delarozière provides the dense, protective canopy and fertile ground below, while Thoms unleashes the searing, unmitigated sunlight breaking through from above.
