(english below) Mit Sons do Brasil vol. 16 setzt die von Gitarrist Lucas Etcheverria kuratierte Konzertreihe ihren Fokus auf Begegnungen zwischen brasilianischen Künstlerinnen, zeitgenössischem Jazz und Musikerinnen der Hamburger Szene fort. Zu Gast sind die brasilianische Sängerin, Gitarristin und Komponistin Giovanna Mottini sowie der in Los Angeles lebende Gitarrist und Komponist Adam Ratner. Giovanna stammt aus Porto Alegre und bewegt sich mit großer Natürlichkeit zwischen brasilianischer Musik, Songwriting und Jazz. Ihre eigene Musik verbindet eine persönliche, lyrische Sprache mit feinem Gespür für Harmonie und Rhythmus. Adam Ratner hat eine sehr eigene musikalische Handschrift entwickelt, in der zeitgenössischer Jazz, brasilianische Musik, komplexe Harmonik und offene Improvisation zusammenkommen. Zu seinen bisherigen musikalischen Kooperationen zählen unter anderem Toninho Horta, Louis Cole, KNOWER, David Binney, Pedro Martins, Fabiano do Nascimento und Genevieve Artadi. Giovanna und Adam verbindet zudem eine kontinuierliche musikalische Zusammenarbeit mit gemeinsamen Konzerten und Duo-Projekten. Für Sons do Brasil treffen ihre musikalischen Welten auf eine Hamburger Rhythmusgruppe mit Lennart Meyer am Bass und Joshua Weiß am Schlagzeug, gemeinsam mit Lucas Etcheverria an der Gitarre. So entsteht ein Konzert zwischen zeitgenössischem brasilianischem Songwriting, Jazz, Improvisation und einer reichen harmonischen Klangsprache. ------------------- With Sons do Brasil vol. 16, the concert series curated by guitarist Lucas Etcheverria continues its focus on encounters between Brazilian artists, contemporary jazz, and musicians from the Hamburg scene. This edition features Brazilian singer, guitarist, and composer Giovanna Mottini and Los Angeles-based guitarist and composer Adam Ratner. Originally from Porto Alegre, Giovanna moves naturally between Brazilian music, songwriting, and jazz. Her work includes original releases such as Respirar 336, amendoim—featuring Duda Raupp, Michael Pipoquinha and Gian Becker—and Te Fazer Voar, alongside collaborations that explore the voice as both a lyrical and instrumental element. Adam Ratner has developed a highly personal sound combining contemporary jazz, Brazilian music, rich harmony, and open improvisation. His career includes performances and recordings with artists such as Toninho Horta, Louis Cole, KNOWER, David Binney, Pedro Martins, Fabiano do Nascimento, Genevieve Artadi, and many others. Giovanna and Adam have also built an ongoing musical collaboration through concerts in Brazil and Europe, as well as recordings and duo performances. For Sons do Brasil, their music meets a Hamburg-based rhythm section with Lennart Meyer on bass and Joshua Weiß on drums, alongside Lucas Etcheverria on guitar. Together, the group explores the meeting point between contemporary Brazilian songwriting, jazz, improvisation, and the harmonic richness that connects both musical worlds.
