Søndagsskolen # 10 ~ Mooncakes with Baijie Curdt-Christiansen

On Sunday November 1st we are delighted to welcome you all for a beginner friendly introduction to making Snowskin Mooncakes celebrating the Chinese Fall Festival. What will we learn? Sitting around the long table at Alle Tiders, Baijie Curdt-Christiansen will introduce the history and cultural significance of mooncakes and we will learn about different styles and flavours from various regions in China. We will focus on snowskin mooncakes - a modern type - and examine innovative interpretations that have put mooncakes on the map in a bustling market saturated with pastries. At the workshop, you will try the special technique of wrapping and are able to customize your mooncake fillings and finally pressing into a mooncake mold. Who will we learn from? Baijie is a Chinese-Danish baker and pastry chef. She draws inspiration from her mixed upbringing and heritage and combines the experiences in her kitchen at Goose Deli. After learning the pastry craft in Copenhagen, Baijie missed Asian flavours and has been trying to reconnect to her roots through the universal language of food. Her spot in Nordvest, Goose, is a Chinese deli, bakery & shop opened in 2025. By the end of the day… Everyone will bring home 3 snowskin mooncakes - perfect for a sunday evening in November... No prior skills are required to attend as long as you bring curiosity. Søndagsskolen is a recurring informal school at Alle Tiders. Every month we invite a talented artist, farmer, chef, communicator or craftsperson to teach us something new about the world around us.
