Permaculture Design for the Climate Emergency

Join Alfred Decker (live) and Rosemary Morrow (recorded) on an interactive session at the Permaculture Barcelona Hub. How does permaculture engage and respond to the Climate Emergency? In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how permaculture concepts apply to a real life case and what adaptation strategies really work. Rosemary and Alfred, two of permaculture’s leading educators, will present examples from around the globe: regenerative agriculture that puts carbon into the ground rather than the atmosphere; bioclimatic architecture creates houses that heat themselves in winter and cool themselves in summer without external energy inputs; and urban ecological landscape design that transforms cities. After the presentations, participants will split up into design groups, examine the Hub site, and imagine how we can apply permaculture indoors and outdoors in adaptation to a rapidly changing climate. Co-facilitated by ESALogika, the Environmental Social Association of Barcelona, the design session will provide participants with experience in analysing, designing and re-imagining a neighbourhood in Barcelona to equip them with transferable skills. The event is free but in order to anticipate the correct number of participants, we request that they purchase a ticket for either snacks, drinks, or both in advance. Early bird option is available until September 27. Through Luma, you pay the booking fee only to secure your attendance. The full price of the consumption ticket would be charged at the door with three options to pick from: 1. Access to refillable drinks (€8 one price) 2. Access to a tapas table (€12 Normal/ €10 Early bird) 3. With both (€18 Normal / €16 Early bird) The booking fee would be subtracted from the total price, depending on which option you pick at the door. A homemade and nourishing Lebanese snack table will be prepared by Eldora Crystal, featuring a selection of classically delicious and beloved mezze. Think labneh and hummus made from scratch, stuffed grape leaves, spinach pies, za’atar-marinated olives and a colourful spread of fresh vegetables perfectly paired for dipping! Doors open at 18h for socialising and networking, and then the information session starts at 18:30h and will end at 21:00h.
