Hay voces que se niegan a elegir un solo idioma para existir. Sin Tregua | Without Respite nace de casi treinta años escribiendo entre el español y el inglés — no como una lengua traduciendo a la otra, sino como dos formas igual de verdaderas de contar la misma vida. Con motivo de la publicación y presentación de esta memoria poética (Editorial Talón de Aquiles), Ángela-Jo Touza-Medina invita a una noche donde la palabra propia se sostiene en cualquier idioma que la diga. Un coloquio con creadores multiculturales abrirá la conversación sobre lo que significa crear, recordar y afirmarse entre fronteras — sin diluirse, sin pedir permiso. El coloquio contará con tres voces que encarnan, desde disciplinas distintas, esa experiencia de crear entre idiomas y culturas: Bonnie Cooper, soprano canadiense afincada en Pontevedra que construye puentes musicales bilingües entre públicos hispanohablantes y anglófonos; Adrian Timms, cantautor británico radicado en Galicia, que fusiona el indie-pop con la tradición folk gallega en su propia obra; y Sabrina Amerell, guionista y storyliner con más de catorce años de trayectoria en televisión, formada en traducción e interpretación (aleman-inglés-español) y especializada en narrativas que cruzan fronteras culturales. La velada incluirá la firma y venta de las primeras 99 copias de la primera edición, estampadas, numeradas y firmadas por la autora, seguida de un cóctel para conversar con la autora y los creadores invitados. Los recuerdos de esta presentación son posibles gracias a Mi Mama lo Crea. Sin Tregua | Without Respite comes from nearly thirty years of writing between Spanish and English — not as one language translating the other, but as two equally true ways of telling the same life. On the occasion of the publication and presentation of this poetic memoir (Editorial Talón de Aquiles), Ángela-Jo Touza-Medina invites you to an evening where the word stands on its own in whatever language speaks it. A panel discussion with multicultural creators will open the conversation on what it means to create, remember, and assert oneself across borders — without diluting, without asking permission. The panel brings together three voices who embody, from distinct disciplines, the experience of creating across languages and cultures: Bonnie Cooper, a Canadian soprano based in Pontevedra who builds bilingual musical bridges between Spanish- and English-speaking audiences; Adrian Timms, a British singer-songwriter based in Galicia whose work fuses indie-pop with Galician folk tradition; and Sabrina Amerell, a screenwriter and storyliner with over fourteen years in television, trained in English-Spanish translation and interpreting, whose work centers on stories that cross cultural borders. The evening will include the signing and sale of the first 99 copies of the first edition, stamped, numbered, and signed by the author, followed by a cocktail hour to talk with the author and the invited creators.
