Full description from organizerShow less
Join the African Archive Book Club to explore the book Stolen Legacy and debate the African origins of Greek philosophy and knowledge. 🇬🇧 What if the origins of Greek philosophy were not what we were taught? For our next African Archive Book Club meeting, we’ll discuss Stolen Legacy by George G. M. James, a book that explores the connections between ancient Egyptian knowledge and Greek philosophy, challenging conventional narratives about the origins of Western thought. Together, we’ll reflect on the book’s key ideas, the place of African intellectual traditions in the history of philosophy, and what it means to reclaim knowledge and histories that have been overlooked or marginalised. 📚 Where to find the book We encourage you to prioritise Afro-centred bookshops in Paris when purchasing Stolen Legacy: Librairie Tamery Sematawy, Librairie Présence Africaine, Librairie Afrique Monde Bourgogne. Alternatively, you can look for the book at Fnac or through online retailers.
