THE WELKIN by Lucy Kirkwood (TFE 2026)

Written by Lucy Kirkwood, adapted by Elise Bagnasco. England, supposedly March 1759. Sally Poppy is convicted for murder. In what seems to be a last resort, the young woman is now claiming to be with child. As the justice system fails to decipher the truth, a group of matrons is summoned to decide over the span of a day whether Sally is telling the truth or not. In this adaptation of Lucy Kirkwood’s play, the lives of six women inevitably intertwine and collide. The necessity of a verdict demands them to question who they are as individuals and as a community, to let go of past grievances and to unravel truths they had worked so hard on burying into the ground. As time is running out and tensions rise, it feels like there is more than the life of one woman weighing on the scales. And stuck there behind closed doors, they have to wonder if they have ever truly been sovereign of their own decisions. With: Jennifer CORNET Robyn GALES Vilma JEPPESEN Olivia C. LEE Iris E.
