FORAGE, FIRE & DRAW: make your own artists charcoal

From foraged woodland sticks to drawing charcoal, over an open fire. Introductory price: £22.50 per person Join us for a relaxed morning outdoors, learning how something as simple as a stick can be transformed into artist charcoal. We’ll begin by identifying and gathering suitable wood, before preparing it and talking through the traditional process of charcoal making. Then we’ll light the fire. While our charcoal cooks over the open flames, there’ll be time for coffee, conversation and a chance to slow down. Once it’s ready, we’ll use the charcoal we’ve made for a fun, simple drawing activity - absolutely no artistic experience needed! You’ll leave with your own handmade artist charcoal, your drawings, and the know-how to try the process again yourself at home. The structured part of the afternoon will finish at around 12pm, but there’s no rush to disappear. You’re very welcome to linger by the fire a little longer. Introductory workshop price: £22.50 per person Future workshops will usually be £45 per person, so this first session is a chance to join us at a reduced launch price. Coffee and tea included. As this is one of our first A Wilder Way workshops, we’ll also be taking photographs during the morning to help us share future events. Attendees will therefore be asked to sign a simple photography consent form on the day. Places are limited to 8 people. 18+ Forage. Make. Use.
