Structuring a Great Driving Lesson

In this workshop, you'll learn how to create lessons with clear beginnings, middles and ends. 'A poorly structured lesson; please seek further development'. It’s one of the most common pieces of feedback instructors receive during Part 3 and Standards Checks, and it can be frustrating when you’re not sure what you’re missing. The good news? Lesson structure isn’t complicated once you understand how to build it properly. In this practical workshop, written by Kathy Higgins Dip DI. F Inst MTD and Leanne Condliff DVSA ADI (Grade A), you’ll learn how to create lessons with clear beginnings, middles, and ends that flow naturally, support learner progress, and meet DVSA expectations every time. What You’ll Explore • Why structure matters — for your learner, your teaching, and your test outcome. • How structure applies to every lesson — not just Part 3 or Standards Checks. • Creating lesson flow — from first lesson to first time pass. • Practical techniques — how to build and deliver structured lessons consistently. Who This Workshop Is For • PDIs preparing for Part 3. • ADIs facing a Standards Check or wanting to raise lesson quality. • Trainers and mentors supporting others in their development.
