Full description from organizerShow less
Join us for an interactive discussion on ultra processed food - what is it and what does it mean for our health? What is ultra processed food (UPF), and what is it doing to our bodies and our health? More than half of our diet in the UK is now ultra processed. These foods are often cheaper and more convenient, but are we paying a hidden price for that convenience? What do parents need to know about UPFs in their children's diets? When the cost-of-living crisis is forcing some families to choose between food and heating, is worrying about ultra processed foods a luxury for the health-conscious, or can we make changes that improve everyone’s health? Discover how communities in Preston are already working together to increase access to varied and nutritious food for everyone. Chair: Prof. StJohn Crean, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Enterprise, University of Lancashire Panel members: Vasiliki Sinopoulou, Lecturer in Evidence Synthesis and Systematic Review and Registered Dietician Dr Victoria Moran, Reader within the Maternal and Infant Nutrition and Nurture Unit (MAINN) and Nutritionist Annie Wynn, BEM, CEO of Let's Grow Preston The information shared at this event is for informational purposes only and is not intended as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
