woodwork class - wooden toy making workshop!

scroll saw woodwork class making your own wooden toy projects! In this introductory three hour carpentry course, you’ll learn how to build a unique wooden tody using hand tools a scroll saw, and a pyrography pen! A scroll saw is like a big sewing machine type saw - that is great for cutting out complicated freehand shapes - so i would like to encourage you to think outside the box for designs and shapes that you can elaborate on a basic box shape with. Your wooden toy can be either a rocking horse - a duck or dog (or whatever animal) on wheels that you can pull along on a string - or a puppet! I will help you understand the scroll saw - and show you the endless possibilities and be glad to help you with further projects and tailor further classes to whatever you would like to do next! We will be using pieces of scrap and salvaged wood - this should give you some ideas on how to be resourcefull, sustainable and make the most of every piece of wood. You will go home with something unique that will last years to come and bring life and new residents to your garden! I will cover all the essential techniques for safely cutting using hand tools, and safely using the scroll saw, gueing and nailing - and designing something very special within just a few hours! I will be sharing some photos of examples shortly - feel free to message me if you have any ideas / questions! - i want to ensure you have a piece that is uniquely yours (and your birds!). I am a passionate artist, woodworker, musical instrument builder, project addict and workshop teacher! This carpentry course is open to anyone who loves hands-on work and wants to create a unique, fun toy that will be a real star of any toy box and go on to have incredible toy story adventures!
