Writing the Elements (Arts by the Sea)

This writing workshop - serving as a prelude to Arts by the Sea - will be a creative exploration of the elements! In this free two-hour workshop, participants of all experience levels are invited to explore the natural world and their internal landscapes through creative expression. Inspired by the Arts by the Sea festival's overarching theme, the session uses elemental concepts, whether classical systems or individual interpretations, as a springboard for nature-focused writing. Participants will be guided through gentle warm-up exercises, immersive elemental soundscapes, and readings of notable poetry and short prose. The workshop aims to foster a welcoming, supportive community environment where attendees can share thoughts, discuss ideas, and draft new creative work. At the close of the session, attendees will have the option to read their pieces aloud. Individual contributions created during the afternoon will also be collated by Louisa into a single, collaborative communal piece.
