NAZARA: South Asian Film Screening + Photography Exhibition

Join Cinema 73 and The Cosy Desi Club for a South Asian short film screening and photography exhibition in Leeds. From the Karachi seaside to the mills of West Yorkshire, our cities have been linked through trade, labour and movement for over a century. At its core, Nazara is about perspective and seeing and brings Cinema 73 and The Cosy Desi Club together to honour that shared history. The evening will be a chance to explore photography from across borders and indulge in short films from South Asian creatives across the world, bringing together narratives and unseen perspectives. About Cinema 73 Cinema 73 is a community space and platform emerging from Karachi, Pakistan. Since 2019, they exist as a literal and metaphorical space to disseminate multidisciplinary art forms in the public realm. They do this by hosting film screenings on the street, public talks and lectures, art residencies, site-specific open studios and community gatherings on the street side. About The Cosy Desi Club The Cosy Desi Club is a platform and print magazine dedicated to uplifting and spotlighting South Asian creativity and stories from across the diaspora. Based in West Yorkshire, UK, the platform has released three magazine issues and multiple in-person events to connect South Asian creatives and foster a community rooted in shared experiences. What to expect: + Free chai or mocktails + Photography exhibit and dedicated film screening by creatives across South Asia and the UK + A chance to connect with like-minded people in a relaxed, intimate setting Come alone or bring a friend for a laidback evening full of conversation, art and perspective. ACCESSIBILITY: Unfortunately, due to the nature of the building, it is not fully accessible for wheelchair users at this time. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and are happy to discuss individual accessibility needs where possible. There are a few steps leading up to the main door, and the entire screening is on one level. Toilets are only accessible via stairs, however.
