Sometimes it's a dancer mid-turn. Sometimes it's an amateur cast of 100+ people, aged 3 to 60, about to go on stage. This month, Square Lens Alliance is exploring exactly that. Our next gathering will be held on Thursday 24th September 2026. We're bringing together In Motion — a fun, hands-on opening session on movement and emotion — and a screening of Dawn Feather's award-winning documentary 'Joy O' Dance', with a live Q&A with the director. As always, expect an evening full of creativity, insight and connection with fellow filmmakers, filmlovers and creatives. 📅 Date: Thursday 24th September 2026 ⏰ Time: Please arrive at 18:30 for a 19:00 start 📍 Location: Dean Clough Mills, Halifax - The Crossley Gallery 🚗 Car Parking: Free after 17:00 Agenda for the Evening Opening Session: In Motion (hands-on session) Led by Alixe (Flying Duck Studio Lab), a fun, hands-on look at how emotion becomes visible through movement — bridging dance, animation and camera work. Film Screening: Joy O' Dance (20') A documentary following young dancers in Yorkshire as they prepare for a milestone show — including twin sisters' farewell performance before university, and boys defying stereotypes through dance — presented by director Dawn Feather (Yorkshire Edit). Winner of Best Documentary at The White Rose International Film Festival (2026), The Children's International Film Festival (2025) and Berlin Short Film Awards (2025).
