Samhain Woodland Walk

A Sunday morning woodland walk in Holmfirth celebrating Samhain, bringing in the first day of winter The Walk Come join us for a Sunday morning woodland walk in Holmfirth celebrating Samhain, bringing in the first day of winter. This walk will start in Holmfirth, meeting at Bjorn Cafe on Hollowgate and take us on a winding walk up to Hades Forest. This is a magical place where the mushrooms thrive and where flora and fauna reveal the changing of the season in a quiet and beautiful way. There will be an opportunity to collect fallen leaves, branches, nuts, seeds and gather any items that you may want to bring indoors to celebrate the end of the harvest and the start of winter. (please do not take any live cuttings or organic matter directly from trees, plants and bushes) The walk is approximately 5-6 miles. Uphill for the first half and down on the return. This would be classed as easy to moderate. We will be out on the hills for around 3hrs. As always come prepared for the winter weather and terrain, bringing snacks and hydration for your walk. Gear & clothing Please pack and wear suitable clothing for the weather on the day. You will need: • Suitable clothes, boots and layers for walking on the day • Drink & snacks • Coat / layers • Please make sure you wear sturdy footwear Lunch Lunch is not included in this event. However, we will be returning to Holmfirth where you can grab something in one of the many cafes and bars. Feel free to bring a packed lunch and snacks to keep you fuelled! Rendezvous, parking & getting there Rendezvous - 10:00AM meet - 10:30AM DEPART Our meeting point is at Bjorn Cafe on Hollowgate, Holmfirth.
