Full description from organizer

Open to students from all colleges Part 2: From problem to action    Spotted a problem or got an idea, but not sure what to do next?   Good ideas often begin with noticing something that could be better. But it can be difficult to know whether a problem is worth exploring, who to speak to or what step to take first. In this practical session, you’ll explore a real problem, look at it from the perspective of the people affected and decide on a small action that will help you learn more. The focus is not on having the perfect solution. It is about asking useful questions, testing assumptions and learning by doing. What will we do?   During the session, you’ll: Identify problems or frustrations from your own experiences, communities, studies, research or work Choose one problem to explore in more depth Consider who experiences it, when it happens and why it matters Learn how to specify and test your assumptions Plan a small, realistic next step Give and receive constructive peer feedback You can bring a problem or early idea with you, but you do not need to. The activities will help you find something to work on during the session. Dinner will also be provided. Who is it for?   This session is open to University of Cambridge students and recent alumni from any college, subject, background or level of experience. It may be particularly useful if you: Have noticed a problem but are unsure what to do next Have an early idea you would like to explore Are interested in enterprise but do not yet have an idea Want to test your thinking before investing lots of time or resources Would like to feel more confident taking action when the answer is not yet clear No previous experience, business knowledge or fully developed idea is required. What will I take away?   You’ll leave with a completed problem-to-next-step worksheet that captures: The problem you want to explore Who you could speak to What you still need to learn The assumptions you want to test One realistic next step to complete within the next 2 weeks The support you may need to continue Your worksheet can also provide a useful starting point for follow-on support, such as a 1-to-1 Idea Clinic or another relevant enterprise opportunity. Register now and come along to turn a problem or early idea into a practical next step.
