Free beginners walk at Pegwell Bay NNR

Join Birdwise East Kent on the day of the infamous bird off for a walk around Pegwell Bay nature reserve. The bird off is a day where Bird Wise East Kent will go head to head with Birdwise North Kent. The aim of the bird off is to try to find as many species of birds as possible and beat the other team. East Kent will be at Pegwell Bay and North Kent will be at Riverside nature reserve in Rainham. On the walk we will hopefully find species to add to our main bird list for the day along with a trip to visit the local seal colony. We hope to see a variety of wader birds along with the possibility of raptors and other wildlife. Pegwell Bay is a National Nature Reserve, so there'll be plenty of other wildlife for us to see along the way. Discover local wildlife, and enjoy some fresh air with fellow nature lovers. Perfect for all ages and a great way to learn more about this special spot and wildlife. The walk is 2 hours and may be over uneven and muddy ground depending on the weather so please where boots or appropraite footwear for the weather conditions. There are public toilets available on-site at the Country park, and we'll be meeting by the Birdwise Gazebo located near the carpark on the grassy area. PLEASE NOTE- you can park at the reserve however it is pay and display, If you don't mind a short walk, there is free parking by the viking ship cafe (Sandwich road , Cliffsend CT125JB) and also by the Jet petrol garage.
