SEA - Cowrie Shell Workshop

A dive into the ocean through the world of cowrie shells. A dive into the ocean through the world of cowrie shells. Historian and artist Peter Nicholls shares traditions and histories from the Indian Ocean and Atlantic while we craft, make jewellery and explore ways of connecting and remembering with the shells. Who is this for? Families, children and people of all ages are welcome! At People Dem Collective, we create opportunities for our communities, neighbours, friends and allies to come together through creativity, conversation, making and shared experiences. Some of our programme is intentionally held for our Black, Brown + Global Majority communities, while other moments, like this one, are open to everyone. Both are important to us. Whether you're coming with family, friends or on your own, we'd love to welcome you through the doors.
