The Wellderness Survival Series - map reading and orienteering Join us in the Wellderness Woods this autumn, and learn some essential skills for being well in the wilderness. By the time we reach our third session of the Wellderness survival series, the woodland will begin to feel a little wintery. Around the toasty warmth of a campfire, you'll learn about map reading and orienteering. Then you'll get to put your new skills to the test, with a 5k hike around the woods. Each session is priced at £15 and there's a 20% discount for booking all three dates in advance (must be purchased ahead of the September session). These events are strictly for over-16-year olds. Anyone below 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Orienteering, map reading and a 5k hike If you're to stay well in the wilderness, you need to know how to find your way through the wilderness. Part three of our survival series offers the skills to learn some basic orienteering skills, without relying on a mobile phone. You'll learn the basics of map reading and understand how to use a compass. Then you get to follow a series of clues and coordinates to navigate a 5k hike around the woodland. Tickets are limited to 20 people for each date. Only available via Eventbrite, they cost £15 per person per session, with a 20% discount if you buy tickets for all three events up front. Please note, this discount is only available when purchasing September tickets. In the Wellderness Woods, the tracks are bumpy and not easy to access for anybody with mobility issues. If you're unsure whether it's suitable for you, please get in touch before booking. Car parking is limited, so please car share where possible. We'll send you the precise location details ahead of the session. We haven't yet figured out how best to get there on public transport. It is doable - as we discovered from some intrepid Wellderfolk who braved the buses and trains for our first session. From what we know, it's not straightforward.
