Full description from organizerShow less
Environmental Irish Artist, Author & Educator GORDON D'ARCY will hold a one-hour Art Workshop based around his new book BIRDSTYLE. Age 16 + About the Event: This special workshop is suitable for both amateur and more seasoned artists, especially with an interest in bird life and nature. Particpants may bring along their own sketch pads and drawing utensils if they wish. Art paper (white A4) and pencils will be freely available plus complimentary coffee/tea/iced water. About the Book: Birdstyle is a striking compendium of over 100 familiar Irish birds, combining the rigours of science with the imagination of art. Each bird is presented in a dual page layout: on one side, expert ornithological insights and a trueto- life vignette; on the succinct five-line verse alongside a stylised colour image influenced by Celtic La Tène art. Rooted in the ‘inscape’ philosophy of Gerard Manley Hopkins and the minimalism of Japanese poetry, this collection is a celebration of the essence of each bird. Unapologetically imaginative and beautifully curated, Birdstyle is the ultimate tribute to Irish nature for the modern collector and bird lover. Published by Dingle Publishing. 2026. Signed Hardback £35. Workshop attendees can purchase for special price £30.
