Artist Talks: Matilda Sutton

Best Practice presents 'Artist Talks', an ongoing artist talk Q+A series of contemporary artists. Working between painting, drawing, textile and object, Matilda Sutton weaves together narrative through image and object. Rooted in both archetypal, cultural narratives, personal experience and embodiment, Sutton’s imagery features beings somewhere between humanness and animalness. These images of fraught solitude and complex intimacy through means of story and object, attempt to express the tensions between individuality and connectedness, dependence and independence. Artist Talks is a weekly programme spotlighting contemporary artists based in the North East and beyond. They run for roughly 1 hour, followed by a Q+A discussion lasting 30 minutes. Doors will open 5 minutes before event start time. Accessibility: Please note that our venue is upstairs (26 steps), with no lift access. Apologies for any inconvenience.
