Walk with a true Morpethian. Discover the exciting history of the Chantry - River Wansbeck -Carlisle Park area, including Emily Davison. Meet Barbara on the Bridge Street side of the Chantry. Learn about the origins of Morpeth. Walk across the historic Chantry Bridge and learn about the River Wansbeck, its crossings at this point, and its famous floods. Walk to Carlisle Park and look at the grand statue of Emily Wilding Davison. Learn about her links to Morpeth and her amazing legacy. Look at the marvel of the Ha' Hill and discover the history of our historic Courthouse. Return to our unique Bridge Chantry and find out why its history is so unique.
