Workshop | Make Your Own Hong Kong Guidebook

Explore Hong Kong through projected slides, archival photographs, collage, drawing, and visual storytelling. Each participant will select several favourite Hong Kong slides and combine details from them to create one original page. They may focus on buildings, streets, shop signs, transport, people, objects, colours, or small details from the slides. Using printed images, coloured paper, collage materials, and POSCA pens, participants will cut, layer, rearrange, draw over, and transform their chosen images. They will experiment with several possible compositions before completing their final page. The page may represent a real place, an imagined neighbourhood, a personal memory, or a playful version of Hong Kong. It does not need to be geographically accurate. At the end of the workshop, all participants’ pages will be collected and combined into one collaborative Hong Kong booklet. The finished publication will function as a shared souvenir, inspired by historical tourist guidebooks, postcards, and travel booklets that introduced visitors to a city. Rather than presenting one official image of Hong Kong, the booklet will bring together many individual ways of seeing, remembering, and imagining the city. Make Your Own Hong Kong Guidebook *Children under 8 should be accompanied by an adult. ====================================== About the artist Jimmi Wing Ka Ho Jimmi Wing Ka Ho 何穎嘉 is a visual artist based in Hong Kong and London.
