AuthorTalks Series

This series is an exciting opportunity for you to hear from a range of authors and for us to showcase talented writers, new and established! The Sher Jung Foundation are excited to announce the continuation of our AuthorTalks series, where we will be speaking with the acclaimed REETA CHAKRABARTI! Reeta has enjoyed a distinguished career with the BBC spanning more than three decades. A Chief Presenter for BBC News, she has reported extensively from the UK and around the world, covering politics, education, social affairs and some of the most significant stories of recent decades. She has also chaired the Costa Book of the Year judging panel and the BBC National Short Story Award. Born in London and brought up in Birmingham, Reeta spent part of her teenage years in Calcutta before studying English and French at Oxford. Her experiences of family, identity, belonging and cultural heritage resonate strongly in her first novel. Finding Belle is a compelling story of mothers and daughters, secrets, displacement and identity, travelling from Mombasa to suburban England and Kolkata. At its heart is Mivvi, a young girl trying to understand her troubled mother and piece together the secrets of her family’s past. Join us for an engaging conversation with Reeta about her journey from journalism to fiction, the inspiration behind Finding Belle, and the themes of family, belonging and identity that lie at the heart of her work. We're delighed to announce that Reeta's book "Finding Belle" will be available for purchase and signing at our event. The ticket price also includes a welcome drink and a snack box made by the award-winning chef Dipna Anand!
