Abberton Home Education: Winter Crafts and Decorations

This is a themed drop-off home education session for age 8+ Our Abberton Home Education Group runs on the 4th Wednesday of every month (exc. August and December). These are drop-off sessions so children do not need to be accompanied – it is for children aged 8-16. Each session has a theme where we will complete activities and engage with nature based on the topic that month. This is a relaxed session where children can be themselves and work together to develop social skills and to foster a deep understanding of wildlife and a love of the natural world. In December we will do some seasonal crafting. Whether you want to do a little woodworking to create a reindeer or make a wreath from willow and greenery - we use tools and develop skills to help us out. Please head into the visitor centre on arrival. You will need to accompany them into the building to sign them in for the session. A consent form must be completed ahead of the session. A consent form must be completed ahead of the session. 🌳Will the activities take place outside? Yes, we will be outside for the whole session. We also have an undercover shelter. 🌍Where are you based? We are based in North Essex, local to Colchester. 🚗Is there parking? Yes, we have a large free car park. 🥾What should we wear? Please dress for being outside - lots of layers. If it has been raining, the paths will be muddy and have lots of puddles, so wellies or boots are advised. 🚻Are there toilets? Yes, we have toilets, including an accessible toilet, in our Nature Discovery Park ☕Is there a Cafe or shop? The visitor centre has a shop and café serving hot and cold drinks, snacks, ice cream, and light lunches. 🐕‍🦺Can we bring a dog? Assistance dogs are welcome at our events. ♿Are there accessible pathways? Our trail follows one of our accessible gravel paths, so it is suitable for buggies and wheelchairs.
