Caring Companies

A morning for Suffolk employers on supporting staff who care for someone alongside work, and joining the Caring Companies scheme. Around 1 in 7 people in the Suffolk workforce are also looking after someone who couldn’t manage without them. That might be an older parent, a partner with a long-term illness or a child with additional needs. Many don’t see themselves as carers, and many leave work because they can’t manage both at the same time. The Caring Companies award recognises Suffolk organisations that support the family carers in their workforce. It is run by Suffolk Family Carers in partnership with Suffolk County Council, and it’s free. This 2.5 hour event is for organisations, and teams within them, that want to find out how to achieve the award. During the session you will: • learn what the Caring Companies award involves and the steps to achieving it • find out about carers’ rights at work, including carer’s leave and flexible working • work through real situations with other employers and leave with practical ideas for your workplace • experience from a company who has completed the Bronze award • get support to start your organisation’s journey to being a Caring Company on the day It’s open to organisations of any size and sector. You’re welcome whether you’re just starting to think about carers in your workplace or already have some support in place. It would suit leadership, HR, individuals, or anyone who would lead the award work in your organisation. Refreshments will be provided.
