Full description from organizer

A celebratory lacemaking social to honour the tradition of Cattern Day - a Lacemaker Holiday Join Lace Art Social to 'Keep Cattern'. On the feast day of the Patron Saint of Lacemaking, Saint Catherine of Alexandria, Lacemakers would take a holiday to Keep Cattern' , play games, sing rhymes, dress up and eat cakes. There are lots of myths and folklore around lacemaking and Catterntide - so let's start some of our own! There will be bobbin spangling, sharing resources, objects to look at and handle, some activities - and of course lacemaking. Please bring along your own lace project to work on unless you book a 'Have-a-go-taster-pillow' ticket. Those with a project on the go from a recent workshop can work on their piece, just let me know so I can bring your pillow along. All lace forms are welcome, but if you don't make any type of lace yet you are still very welcome, please feel free to bring along any other making - crochet, knitting, embroidery, tapestry, spinning etc, Catherine is the patron saint of many of these activities as well ! Buying a 'Have-a-go-taster-pillow' ticket will mean a lace pillow, bobbins and a pattern will be set up for you, along with some instructions, so you can make a small piece of lace to take home with you at the end. Please note this will not include any formal tuition ( it is a lacemakers holiday after all ! ) so please make sure you are comfortable with written and visual instructions. Beginners only. Tickets limited to 4. Buying a ' Lacemaking Social' only ticket means you should bring along your own project to work on. And don't be shy - please bring along any lace that you have made that you want to show off. This is a test event so I will be absorbing the eventbrite fees myself. Ticket price covers materials and a few bits and bobs to make the event happen.
