Film Screening: Land of Canaan

"They planted so we ate. We plant so they will eat," This film focuses on themes of Palestinian land stewardship, regenerative agriculture, and cultural heritage. It is beautifully filmed and gives a moving insight into the lives of Palestinian Olive growers. A Palestinian-American anthropologist returns to his ancestral homeland, where he finds the olive oil industry in crisis and leads a community of farmers through fair trade certification, preserving a powerful legacy of food sovereignty, agricultural heritage, and resilience. The film will start at 7pm. However, doors will open at 6:30pm. Refreshments will be available and there will be a number of stalls selling Palestinian goods. The film lasts about 1hr 25 mins. After the film there will be time for some facilitated discussion and we are hoping to have a member of the film production team join us either via Zoom or even in-person. SPARK Social Justice, working with Pax Christi in the Leeds Diocese, is delighted to be sponsoring this film presentation as part of the 2026 Leeds Palestinian Film Festival
