Magic of Applique Class at Abakhan Mostyn

Let's sew with Abakhan! Discover the magic of appliqué and learn how this versatile technique can transform your sewing projects. Appliqué is a wonderful way to add colour, texture, and personality to your work, while also making the most of those treasured fabric scraps and offcuts. During the morning session, Molly will guide you through several different appliqué methods, demonstrating a variety of techniques and finishes to help you create different decorative effects. You'll have the opportunity to practise each method and build your confidence before moving on to your chosen project. In the afternoon, you'll select one of three inspiring projects to complete using your favourite appliqué technique. Once you've chosen your project, you can select fabrics from the shop or bring along a bag of offcuts from previous projects to give them a new lease of life. Molly will also show you a great technique for making your own bias binding. Giving your project a professional finish. Suitable for sewists of all abilities, this full-day workshop is packed with inspiration, practical techniques, and creative ideas that you'll be able to use again and again in future projects. For FAQ's please visit here Tutor : Molly Brown I have delivered workshops with Abakhan since 2017, but experimented, played and worked with textiles since childhood. This interest has remained an important part of my life, from making Christmas presents on my Nana’s old treadle machine; to teaching multiple skills at the Knitting & Stitching Shows, as well as Festival of Quilts. After a 35 year career as an Occupational Therapist in the NHS, I changed direction in 2016 and focused more on teaching skills to others and working on my own projects. I have mastered a wide repertoire of skills in both Knitting and Sewing. I teach a wide range of knitting techniques, from Entrelac to Magic Loop. But sewing is where my strongest passion lies. The back bone of this is in making clothes. However, I have a keen interest in exploring the variety of ways to embellish fabrics, especially by Shisha, free motion embroidery and Quilting. It might look like these are all just different tangled threads, but my aim is to bring it all together into a beautiful fabric of coherent and unique wearable art.
