Arko Mukhaerjee ft. Kanishka Live

Folk meets Electronica in this live performance of songs from Bengal Nepal and Pan India. Part of Theatreship's guest nights - where contemporary artists take over the ship to highlight the stories they want to tell. Here's some more info from them: Arko & Kanishka (Ashram) together is one of the first live folk-electronic duos from east of India to fuse electronica with Indian traditional root-tribal-folk tunes/songs. This Berlin/Kolkara based project creates a world folk soundscape that paints a colourful image of today's Sub -continent, where traditions and "the modern" walk hand in hand. The songs, through a unique contemporary funky syncretic soundscape travels seamlessly through the himalayan villages, the bengali riverine deltas and the dry darught affected rural belts of the subcontinent, bringing tunes from boatmen, nomadic tribes, Sufi saints, struggling farmers to celebration of common people's lives. ______________________ The venue is open from 4pm. There is a lovely atmosphere in the bar and top deck, and we are open for everyone to have a drink and to enjoy the space. We recommend arriving by 7pm at the latest for this event in order to grab a drink, get your seats and settle in. Theatreship is committed to broadening access to the arts - we know that ticket price is a huge barrier for some. If the regular ticket price is beyond what you feel able to afford for whatever reason, please don't hesitate to email us at [email protected] and we will do everything we can to help, no questions asked. We also offer arts supporter tickets, for those that can, to pay a higher price to support the venue, the artists who perform here and subsidised tickets for others. Due to the historic nature of the ship, we’re sorry to say there is not currently step-free access into the theatre space. We have dedicated staff on hand to help with stairs, and an onsite wheelchair once you’re inside the venue. If you have any access needs, please do e-mail us at [email protected].
