BGH x Epping Forest Heritage Trust: High Beech Circular

Join us as we go on a walk through Epping Forest, Loughton Camp and on to High Beech, taking in some of the forest's most scenic areas. Please note this hike was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday 19th September but will now take place on Saturday 17th October due to Epping Forest Heritage Trust staff not being available to lead the walk. We apologize for any inconvenience caused. --- BGH x Epping Forest Heritage Trust: High Beech Circular NEW DATE - Saturday 17th October 2026 Meeting time: 10.30am End time: 3.30pm Difficulty: Moderate Distance: 8 km Duration: 5 hours Meeting and end point: Stubbles Carpark, Nursery Road, Loughton, IG10 4DZ Join us for a day out in nature with Black Girls Hike, delivered in collaboration with Epping Forest Heritage Trust. We'll go on a guided circular walk through the beautiful Epping Forest starting in Loughton. We’ll make our way through the forest to Loughton Camp and on to High Beech, taking in some of the area’s most scenic and historic spots. Home to over 55,000 ancient trees, Epping Forest is a landscape rich in history and biodiversity. Along the way, we’ll explore its unique heritage, uncovering stories of the forest’s past and its importance today. About our partnership: This event is delivered in partnership with the Epping Forest Heritage Trust (EFHT) and will be guided by an EFHT team member, with support from a Black Girls Hike host. It forms part of the Epping Forest Heritage for All project, made possible through funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund. The project seeks to inspire people from all backgrounds to engage with the Forest’s rich heritage, build a stronger sense of belonging, and encourage shared care for this landscape so it can be enjoyed, celebrated, and protected - now and for generations to come. Black Girls Hike are proud partners in supporting this vision. Terrain: Woodland paths throughout with one steep hill. Paths may be muddy, especially after recent rainfall, so suitable footwear is essential. What to bring: Walking shoes/hiking boots, packed lunch, water, sunscreen and weather appropriate clothing. Lunch stop: We'll have a short break - bring your own lunch to eat during the break. Facilities: There's one toilet at High Beech but we would recommend that you use the toilets at Loughton Station if you are taking public transport. Transport: Closest station is Loughton Station (Central Line), which is a 10 min walk away. Parking: Stubbles Car Park (the meeting point).
