Introduction to Blender: Character Development with Sophie Rogers

In this beginner workshop led by artist Sophie Rogers, you will be guided through Blender’s interface, modes and general pipeline. Focusing on key modelling techniques and some easy ways to texture, you will bring your own 3D character to life and leave feeling confident to explore and experiment on your own. The session begins with a look at how artists are using Blender in their practice, particularly in artist-made video games. We will then cover the essentials of Blender’s layout, navigation and workspace modes. Participants will go on to model a basic character using core geometry tools, modifier basics and simple material application, with a focus on playful, accessible ways to customise their models. By the end of the session, you will: Have a working knowledge of Blender’s layout, interface and workspace modes Gain practical experience modelling and customising a 3D character Understand the 3D pipeline, with the confidence to experiment independently in their own practice What do I need to bring?
