MODERN MADE | Modern British Art & Design

Lyon & Turnbull presents a public exhibition and auction viewing for the 15th edition of MODERN MADE, bringing together fine art, design, photography, craft and studio ceramics from the early 20th century to today. Celebrating the connections between artistic disciplines, the viewing offers visitors an opportunity to explore Modern British art and European Modernism alongside exceptional furniture, lighting and decorative objects. Highlights include works from Tom Alexander's collection of Modern British art and studio ceramics, Gerald Summers furniture from the collection of Leonard and Dorothy Elmhirst of Dartington Hall, and innovative postwar lighting by John and Sylvia Reid. The viewing also celebrates the influence of émigré artists on British culture, with ceramics by Lucie Rie and Hans Coper, photographs by Dorothy Bohm and works by Peter Potworowski. Fine art highlights include Cedric Morris's Experiment in Red, returning from Kenya after half a century, alongside works by Paul Nash, Victor Pasmore, Pablo Picasso and Paolo Scheggi. Open to the public ahead of the MODERN MADE auction on 30 October, the viewing provides an opportunity to see the works in person, discover their stories and speak with Lyon & Turnbull's specialists.
