Something for Everyone - Angela Filby

Angela Filby began her creative career designing and making theatre costumes. This led to her studying textile design at The Central School of Art and Design. Whilst continuing to design costumes she began to use art running workshops in youth centres to enable young people to discover their own creativity and encourage trusting conversations. As well as textiles she uses other mediums of clay, paper, mosaic and water colours and often combines these different mediums in her present day work. Part of her ethos in her work is the use of repurposed and found items. This has led to an extensive collection of a variety of resources. Her inspiration comes from folklore, poetry and observations of people and scenery around her. She continues to run workshops, and especially loves workshops where people are either reintroduced to creativity or are complete beginners. She says the conversations are often as important as the finished pieces and she likes everyone to leave with a feeling of delight and pride in what they have achieved. Her most recent workshops have been with a broad spectrum from Dementia suffers to year 1 pupils.
