EcoDocs Special Event: Fairhill: A Story of Land-Based Resistance

A special preview event of upcoming feature documentary Fairhill: A Story of Land-Based Resistance with director Q&A. Join us for a free community preview and discussion event of footage from the upcoming documentary, Fairhill: A Story of Land-Based Resistance, directed by EcoDocs founder Solveig Herzum and Anson Hartford. Fairhill is a feature documentary about loss, resistance, and rebirth in the face of the forces that threaten land-based communities. Filmed over more than three years, it covers the story of Simon Fairlie, Jasmine Hills, and Jon Hill, refugees from the historic ecocommune at Monkton Wyld Court destroyed in 2024, as they embark on a journey to start over, living sustainably in community, on an empty piece of land in Dartmoor. The documentary is yet unfinished and this event will feature the 30-minute short film WYLD that the feature film is based on, along with preview footage of the feature film, offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the process of making a documentary. After the screening, Solveig and Anson will faciliate a discussion and Q&A around the important issues of land-based living, intentional communities, and the threat that alternative ways of living face in the UK.
