Half a century with hammer and chisel by Nicholas Sloan (In Person)

Letter-cutter and graphic designer Nicholas Sloan talks about his 50+ year career. Can't join us in person? Book to watch online. Join us at the Art Workers’ Guild for an evening with Nicholas Sloan, followed by questions, conversation and refreshments. During a career of over 50 years as a letter-cutter, I have learned a lot, both about what to do and about what not to do. I’ll be happy to share the highs and lows with Letter Exchange and others, including forays into printing, graphic design, art and heavy lifting. A wide range of clients and the part they play in shaping the work, mostly positive, occasionally not, is a significant aspect. Likewise the influence of many skilled peers, old and new. Letters, in all their glittering variety, continue to fascinate. ⏱️ The talk and questions will finish by 8 pm; stay afterwards for drinks and conversation. 🥂 Your first drink is complimentary, generously provided by Artisan Memorials. • Twenty free student tickets are generously sponsored by the Wynkyn de Worde Society. • Full Members may bring one guest free; no guest booking is required.
