Manufacturer and urbanist Mark Brearley on what’s made in London these days, and by who, in the filigree of factories fighting to keep alive Join manufacturer and urbanist Mark Brearley for an illustrated talk about what’s made in London these days, and by who, in the filigree of factories that are fighting to keep a foothold in the city. Hear what’s strong, and changing, and burgeoning against the odds, as well as what’s threatened by yet more waves of expulsion, the permanent mood of un-support, and ongoing social-narrowing. Mark will draw on his 2022 book Made in London (co-authored with photographer Carmel King), with some updates on the story since it emerged. He’s sure to mention his own aluminium tray and trolley factory in Peckham (near to the Old Kent Road Asda), and will more generally advocate for the embeddedness of industry in cities.
