SPIVANKA - Ukrainian folk lullabies (singing workshop for English speakers)

We invite you to this open singing session, where we will share and teach you our favourite Ukrainian lullabies. We invite non-Ukrainian speakers to join us and celebrate Ukrainian folk music together. This session will be fully in English. Spivanka is an open collaborative meeting space where we find joy in singing together. We usually sing without accompainment, listening carefully to our voices and letting the rich tradition of the Ukrainian song to continue through us. Everybody is welcome: our dear friends and family in the UK, those who support Ukraine and curious about our cuture, musicians and not! We are hoping that this little session can give you a glimpse into the world of Ukrainian music especially the traditions of Ukrainian lullabies. The phonetic transcriptions and translations will be provided and the session will run in English (with singing in Ukrainian) so don't worry - you will understand everything! You are welcome to join in singing as well as listening. The session is free to keep it accessible and you are welcome to donate to Spivanka via Eventbrite if you can. The donations will go towards printing the textbooks and administrative fees. Supported by Old Diorama Arts Centre. Workshop facillitator: Solomia Dzhurovska.
