Come and join us for a relaxed The Afterword warm-up show, with sets from our friends The Dandelion Chain, Apple Eyes and Kenny Lee. THE AFTERWORD The Afterword (Tom Walkden and Alex Billig) write melodic indie-folk/pop songs shaped by bittersweet self-irony and cinematic melancholy. Walkden has previously collaborated as a vocalist and lyrcist with Boz Boorer, longtime musical partner and co-writer to Morrissey, while Billig is a classically trained pianist. Together, they combine imaginative storytelling with a warm, contemporary sound. The pair previously performed together in Oxford-formed band Wolventrix, whose songs drew early attention, including from NME, which highlighted their "emotionally raw lyrics and immense choruses". THE DANDELION CHAIN The Dandelion Chain is a polymorphic band creating bold, genre-blurring music that fuses post-punk energy, gothic edge, and pop sensibilities. Known for their inventive live performances and evocative soundscapes, they combine intricate arrangements with raw emotion. In a minimalistic version as a duo, Mike and Carlos weave synthpop ideas with classical arrangements, and turn rockabilly on its head.
