The Big Accrington Sleep Out

One night. Two charities. One vital cause. Join Accrington’s biggest sleep out and make sure no one faces homelessness alone. On Saturday 23rd October 2026 we are coming together for the very first Big Accrington Sleep Out. A special night bringing people together to raise vital funds to support Maundy Relief and Shelter, supporting people experiencing homelessness in our local community. For one night, we are asking you to mark World Homelessness Day in October by joining us at the home of Accrington Stanley F.C. and sleeping out under the night sky of Lancashire. It might not be the comfiest night’s sleep you’ve ever had, but it could be one of the most meaningful. Registration is only £10 and we ask each participant to aim to raise a minimum of £50 through an online fundraising page. If you are not able to fundraise, you can chose to pay the £50 minimum yourself and still participant. Every pound raised will be split 50/50 with Maundy Relief and Shelter to support people experiencing homelessness and make sure no one faces homelessness alone. Don’t worry if fundraising isn’t your thing. We’ll provide plenty of ideas, tips and materials to help you smash your target! HOMELESSNESS ISN'T SOMEONE ELSE'S PROBLEM. It is happening here in our communities, affecting people from all walks of life. Shelter Lancashire and Maundy Relief are coming together because we believe no one should face homelessness alone. As charities supporting those experiencing homelessness, we recognise that this event touches on experiences of homelessness that are complex and deeply personal. Whilst sleeping out at Accrington Stanley F.C. cannot replicate the realities faced by people experiencing homelessness, the aim of this event is to build understanding, encourage reflection, and raise vital funds in a respectful way. We're simply bringing people together for an evening of community, awareness, entertainment and fundraising before settling down for the night. So whether you're taking part with friends, family, colleagues, a community group or flying solo, you get to be a part of something bigger. Your participation and fundraising will help both charities provide vital support to people experiencing homelessness and those at risk of losing their home. Leave the duvet behind.
